  • Bot Programming

    If you love to tinker, build, and explore new technology, don’t miss this chance to jump into Hawken School’s new Innovation Lab and explore. During this week-long camp, campers will learn how to code various physical objects, starting with Ozobots and including Micro:bits and some introductory Arduino circuits. They will also work in the Innovation Lab to design objects using circuits and LEDs and to engage in other projects.
  • Create Your Own Trading Cards

    Ages 9 - 13

    From baseball and football cards to Pokemon and movie-themed cards, kids have loved collecting, trading, and sorting cards. In this unique one-week program, campers will create their own set of cards based on a theme of their choice. If you have a passion for sports, movies, animals, or anything else, this is an opportunity for you to design a set of cards using google images and Photoshop. At the end of the week, campers will each have their own unique and beautiful set of cards. There will even be an opportunity to try and create “relic” cards that contain bits of history such as jerseys or costumes. Don’t miss this chance to be the envy of the card trading community.
  • Critic’s Corner: Film Analysis and Review

    Love movies? Love to have your voice heard? Well, this camp is for you! Join us for an opportunity to learn about the basics of film, including composition, editing, narrative technique, acting, lighting, sound, and cinematography. Using various classic films (both new and old), we will use our knowledge of the world of film to analyze and critique each film on our very own blog!
  • Lights, Camera, Action: iPad Films

    Use your imagination, creativity, and love of technology in a study of film-making basics. Using iPads, campers will learn how to write scripts, plan, and sketch storyboards, film scenes, and edit their own short films. Campers will have the opportunity to make stop-action films, music videos, and feature films as well. In a fun culmination, we will host a film festival where all films will be screened! Take a walk down the “red carpet” as we celebrate your cinematic masterpieces at a special screening at the end of the week.
  • Little Bits Technology

    Become an inventor for a week as you bring your creative ideas to life with LittleBits, a platform of easy-to-use electronic building blocks. Throughout the week, you will learn about and use an Invention Cycle that will guide you through the invention and engineering design process. Campers will also learn foundational coding concepts while creating their own games, smart machines, and more with LittleBits’ block-based programming, based on Google’s Blockly language. Join us for a fun, hands-on, interactive week!
  • Minecraft

    Come enjoy a week exploring the virtual world of Minecraft. Daily adventures await every morning when campers enter pre-constructed worlds to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and build virtual communities. Children will be able to exercise their creative muscles in the Minecraft camp’s very own Minecraft server. While set in “creative mode,” campers will be able to utilize unlimited resources to build whatever they can imagine and then explore each other’s creations. Hawken camp will supply laptops and mice, and a Hawken IT staff member will be available to assist children with computer skills as well as Minecraft gameplay.
  • Photoshop: Super Heroes, Movie Posters, and Futuristic Landscapes

    Campers will learn the technical skills associated with the program Photoshop. With these skills, they will be able to work independently to edit, modify, and enhance any picture they wish. To learn these skills, the campers will be guided through a unique project. Campers will have a choice of projects including taking a self-photo and modifying it into a super hero poster, making a movie poster, turning a city photo into a futuristic landscape, and much more!
  • Robotics and Coding

    Have you ever wondered if the robots from science fiction could actually exist in our world? Come immerse yourself in the wonderful world of robotics. In this camp, students will explore robotics, different types of builds, lifts such as scissor lifts and elevator lifts, and more. They will then learn to work with various sensors and how to code a robot to be autonomous as well as code controllers for an internal competition.
  • Young Graphic Designers

    The field of graphic design is continually growing. Designers are needed for website development, advertising, architecture, and much more. Are you interested in using technology to create art? In this camp, you will learn the basic principles of graphic design. Campers will create original designs and build art work using Photoshop. These skills are the building blocks for becoming a true graphic designer.
