Gravity is annoying. Being, for the most part, stuck to the Earth is something humans have found frustrating throughout history. From high jump and pole vault to airplanes and rockets, we push ourselves farther and farther away from the planet with each breakthrough. But how do we get up into the sky? How do planes, rockets, and balloons work? More importantly, what’s it like up there? In this experience, we will design and conduct experiments in aeronautics and atmospheric science with the ultimate goal of launching a payload into the upper atmosphere.
  • Learning Creativity through Writing and Drawing – IN-PERSON FORMAT

    Students entering grades 6 – 8

    $400

How do people come up with ideas for creative pieces like short stories and drawings? How do they go from having an impulse to make something to actually finishing and presenting their work? In this one-week course, we will look at the science of how the brain works in order to come up with original ideas, develop them, and finalize them for presentation. We will focus on creative writing and 2D visual art, spending some of our time on the Mastery School campus and some of it at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
