  • Improv Comedy: The Science Behind Making People Laugh

    Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
    Dates: 6/23-6/27

    Have you ever wanted to learn how to be funny? In this camp, students will learn not only the basics of improvisational comedy but also the science behind making people laugh. Students will be introduced to short-form improvisational comedy in the vein of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and use the skills they learn in storytelling, character development, and scene-building to explore the beginnings of long-form improv. Besides learning how to make people laugh, this camp is also a crash-course in teamwork skills, confidence-building, communication skills, and creative thinking. This one-week camp will culminate in a comedy show in which students will show off their new skills.

  • Mechatronics: Drones, Robots, & Rovers

    Who: Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
    Dates: 6/16-6/20 (Note: not offered on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth)

    Cost: $350 + $150 technology fee (each student will be provided with a drone to keep after the course’s conclusion)

    All machines rise! Want to use rovers, drones, and robotics as fun tools to explore mechatronics, mechanical systems, electronics, and programming? This is the camp to join. The camp is primarily a hands-on lab experience which provides students with resources to design, build, and program functional robots and a few other parts such as motors and sensors.

  • Health and Wellness

    Do you want to integrate physical movement into your daily routine? Are you searching for peace or a deeper understanding of yourself and the world? Then come and participate in a week long health and wellness camp! In this summer camp, we will explore rituals and traditions passed on through human millennia. We will look at different ways humans have connected our bodies and mind (and perhaps spirit) for holistic wellness. 

  • Garden Science: An Ecosystem Approach

    Rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders

    This hands-on summer camp invites budding scientists and nature lovers to explore the fascinating world of Ohio native plants, and to learn about the vital role these plants play in supporting local wildlife. Students will work together to build and maintain a thriving ecosystem, and will learn how to grow different species of plants from seed in the Mastery School’s native plant greenhouse. We will also work in the science lab to take a closer look at plant features under the microscope, and learn how to take incredible macro photographs of native flora and fauna. This camp combines science, art, and outdoor fun to inspire curiosity and appreciation for the natural world. Get ready to get your hands dirty!
