Gates Mills Campus
Hawken Football Camp offers a three-day experience for participants to practice fundamentals and increase their knowledge of the game. Participants will learn position-specific alignments, assignments, and techniques such as route running, throwing, and blocking. Both offensive and defensive skills will be taught. All instruction will be without helmets and shoulder pads, and there will be no tackling.
Game play will be a regular part of each day’s instruction, including flag football, where campers will have the opportunity to display their football skills in game situations. T-shirt, shorts, and football cleats are required for the camp.
Camp will be led by Hawken’s varsity and youth coaching staff, including head coach Brian Stephenson. Varsity football players will also be in attendance to support and teach our participants.
Prior to Hawken, Coach Stephenson was an assistant coach at Woodberry Forest School for nine years, including the last two years as offensive coordinator. Woodberry Forest School is a top-flight boarding school in Virginia, and their football program is one of the best in the South. Over the course of his tenure, Woodberry Forest School posted a record of 69-14-1 and won eight Virginia Prep League championships. The team was ranked first in the state for independent schools for five of his nine years at Woodberry, and it was ranked second in 2011 and third in 2012. Brian has coached and mentored numerous All-State players along the way. In addition, he has worked with dozens of collegiate football players and two NFL players.
